The Iconic, Amazing Pike Place Market in Downtown Seattle

Open year-round, this open-air bazaar is filled with amazing treats spread over nine acres. Referred to as "the soul of Seattle," Pike Place Market is nearly 105 years old and uniquely appeals to the five senses of its more than 10 million visitors each year.

Sight: look no further than the guys at Pike Place Fish for a little visual entertainment; they're known to throw massive fish over the counter throughout the day.

Smell: fresh, seasonal flowers adorn aisles at Pike Place Market, allowing you to inhale and relax to the scents of tulips, orchids and other varieties of colorful blossoms. Or if coffee beans is more your style, Pike Place Market is home to the very first Starbucks. It's a little piece of Americana right off the cobblestone street.

Touch: trinkets, fine art and gifts in the various shops beg to be touched and admired. But we'll understand if you don't want to touch the wall plastered in gum…

Taste: the heart of Pike Place Market is the rows of fresh fare, gourmet ingredients and unique, prepared foods that whet your appetite and please the palate.

Sound: Pike Place Market is host to a diverse population and sometimes it's nice to just sit at Victor Steinbrueck Park and listen to the bustling activity around you.
